Refreshing and rejuvenating
Rich in vitamin C and known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities, Brazilian orange oil is an uplifting treat for both the mind and the skin.
Description
Although it is thought that the orange tree is native to China and the Far East, Brazil now produce the highest quantity of oranges in the world. The sweet orange is a flowering tree with glossy, evergreen leaves and thorny branches. The fruits they grow are called hesperidium, a modified type of berry with a thick, waxy rind (or peel) that protects the juicy flesh inside.
The cheerful, uplifting fragrance of orange oil has made it very popular in aromatherapy. It is used both alone or as part of an oil blend, to help combat depression during the coldest and darkest months of the year.
The citrusy oil is obtained by pressing the whole fruit with its peel. The essential oil and the juice are then separated through a centrifugal process. Any guesses where Lush source it? Here’s a hint, the clue is in the name.
